VIDEO: (Book Trailer) Real Talk Relationship Tips – A Biblical Perspective

We ran across this new book trailer on Twitter recently and wanted to share  it with you. The trailer is based on the book, Real Talk Relationship Tips – A Biblical Perspective from author Rickey Macklin. The trailer plays like a short film and seems interesting enough that it kept us watching for the entire six + minutes. Check it out below and let us know what you think in the comment section. Also, tell us whether you’ll be purchasing a copy of the book.

From YouTube:

Whether you are contemplating a relationship, in one, engaged to be married, married, divorced, or starting over again, the tips in this book are designed to expose the wrong, provide specific biblical instructions on the right and encourages you regardless of which season you maybe in. One thing is certain, I know indubitably I’m on assignment to destroy ignorance and remove societal influence and statistics in this area that God deems as holy.

Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out. My man Rickey Macklin brings validity to this particular proverb with his biblical approach to relationship counseling! There's no counsel like the word of God, and Rickey draws wisdom directly from its source to give practical, but sound and affective tips for relationships! I'm excited about the book, and ready to dive into it! "Let Him uses you Rickey"!

This is an excellent read for those that want the truth regarding principles to building a healthy relationship. I had the pleasure of reading a review copy of the book and enjoyed it very much. I trust the validity of the information because it is biblically supported and does not contradict the Word of God. I also happen to take one of Elder Rickey's classes, "Courtship vs. Dating" and can appreciate the years of experience and expertise provided. I encourage readers to pray first and allow God to speak you while reading "Real Talk" and to of course be obedient. You will feel much better and will escape much heart ache and pain from dead end relationships. I'd like to add that Real Talk can be read by couples in all stages of relationships whether courting or married.

I am a graduate of his courtship class and I'm speaking from experience when I say his advice and relationship tips will bless your life! I can't promise that the book will sustain your relationship but it will sustain your sanity, spirituality, and life. If you're looking for some sugar coating this book is not for you! This is REAL TALK!!!!!!

Let me first say that I appreciate all the spiritual encouragement and insight that comes from BMWK. But I had several issues with this trailer - I don't know if the book addresses these issues as I haven't read it, but certain things in the trailer turned me off from wanting to. Why does the woman's ex have to be an abuser? I feel like this is an all too common narrative for a woman in regards to film - struggling to leave a physically dangerous relationship. Domestic violence continues to be a prevailing issue yes, and there have been plenty of films covering it as the main issue of an unhealthy, ungodly relationship. But I would like to see a biblical-centered film with issues that point more to less-talked about relationship issues like pride, vanity, and lust that we all struggle to release to God. I was also disturbed in the clip where Kevin confronts the young woman about her previous relationship, in their bedroom, half-naked. To me this scene implies that they have a sexual relationship sans marriage - something that doesn't really help to convict others of biblical relationship guidelines. Although Kevin is "God-fearing," that clip made me think "flesh-pleasing," and "faith-compromising." I also had a problem with the young woman proposing to Kevin. It could be that I have a traditional viewpoint, and again I don't know if the book addresses this as an issue as a way to "remove societal influence." But I'm curious to know how the woman doing this is responding to guidance from the Lord. Thanks in advance to those willing to offer some perspective!

I appreciate your insight. The book, Real Talk, attempts to encourage people regardless of where they may currently find themselves in regards to this subject. The video depicts what a lot of individuals are currently facing in our society and unfortunately the church is included. Some individuals are attempting to live right but their compromised lifestyles are causing them to settle for less than God's best. Others are wanting "Mr. Right" but arent close enough to God to be able to recognize him if he does show up. My prayer is that my book and the upcoming web episodes on this subject will destroy ignorance and remove societal influence and statistics in this area that God deems as holy. It is written to destroy broken marriages before they ever happen, to help promote better relationships, better families, and bring awareness to those individuals that are currently lost due to a lack of proper information and mentoring. Real Talk, Real Life, Real Relationship Tips that Matter – Now, thats Real Talk: from a Biblical Perspective. I do appreciate you pinpointing abuse, ungodly relationships, lust and compromise which are also major issues my book does address - and the film will as well. Stay tuned, Id loved to bless you with a copy of the book :-) Also, keep watch for the web episodes release! ~ Rickey E. Macklin
