In addition to President Obama making history as the first African American President, his second inauguration will make history for being the very first inauguration to have it’s very own smartphone app! The Presidential Inauguration committee announced on Tuesday that ‘Official Inaugural 2013 App’ is available for download.
The app will feature the official schedule of events in Washington and connect users with news bloggers keeping them totally informed. It can also be synced with Facebook, Twitter, and email. The app will provide livestream video of the inaugural events including the swearing-in ceremony on Monday January 21st. The app will also allow users to search for event access points, first aid and information booths, food stations, volunteer opportunities, and portable bathroom locations.
Steve Kerrigan, President and CEO of the Inaugural Committee, said in a statement the app is for Americans across the country to share in this moment in history. “Whether you’re in Washington, D.C. or any other part of the nation, there are plenty of ways to be involved in the inauguration through this app,” Kerrigan said. To document this amazing event, the app will also feature exclusive behind the scenes photographs and video.
