I certainly feel like I am a cool mom, but I wonder what our 14 year old son thinks. When I was little, I did not think of my parents as cool parents. But now when I look through old family photographs, I think my parents were sooo cool. My dad’s Afro was perfect and his polyester printed shirts and dress slacks were coordinated to a tee. He had to be cool in that brand new Black Chrysler Cordoba which was nicknamed the Love Roller Coaster. And my mom, she …
Just yesterday I was posting about how Obama had a double digit lead on Hillary. What the heck happened. I’m never believing the polls again. I was disappointed when I turned on CNN at 8PM EST last night and saw her ahead 40%-34% then awoke to find she had officially pulled it out. After Iowa I finally bought into the hype only to be let down, one state away. Oh well, on to South Carolina.

Got this today in an email forward today from my man Shaka. Let us know what you think about it.
Communication Do’s & Don’ts:
#1. Focus on solving the problem instead of winning the argument.
If you’re not coming up with solutions you are not arguing right, instead you’re tearing up your relationship.
#2. Listen with an open mind.
Before you go off make sure you understand right. Repeat it back to them and let them clarify. Often times stuff just comes out wrong.
#3. Explain yourself. People do misunderstand.
#4. Respect your mate’s individualism.
They won’t believe …
Ever since Barack Obama won the Iowa primary last week every candidate republican and democrat has adopted his slogan in one way or another. “It’s Time for Change”. Later tonight I anticipate Obama winning his second primary in New Hampshire once again creating black history before our very own eyes. (I hope this time mass media doesn’t ignore it.)
In the spirit of Barack Obama I’ve adopted this same phrase to act as an agent for change in our household.
It’s Time for Change:
To our teenage son, it’s time for change: The …

Obama opens up a double digit lead in NH poll taken on Sunday by CNN. Could be history Part II but the question is will mass media ignore this as they did for the most part after Iowa where they acted as if Huckabee was the big story.
Last week the “mes deux cents” blog linked to us in their blog-o-rama. We appreciate the …

Resolution means the act of resolving upon an action or a course of action. In 2008, I think we should commit to do a better job of resolving conflicts/issues/disagreements with our spouses and loved ones. Allowing things to go unresolved and to build up is not healthy for our relationships.
The other day my husband and I got into a little argument. It was soooo little, I don’t even know if he knows it was an argument. Actually, now that I think about it…he could have been just playing and I …
For those that didn’t know yet for some reason. Barack Obama has won the Iowa Caucus for the Democratic party.
Sen. Barack Obama, bidding to become the nation’s first black president, captured the Iowa caucuses Thursday night, opening test in the race for the 2008 Democratic nomination.
Obama, 46 and a first-term senator from Illinois, eased past a high-powered field that included Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, the former first lady, and former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina, the party’s 2004 vice presidential nominee.
Obama, who campaigned as an apostle …
Alright this is late and we’ve been meaning to do it for the past few weeks but congratulations to the husband and wife duo “Kindred the Family Soul” who had twins back on the 22nd. In a lot of ways their music is the soundtrack to this blog and was an inspiration for the vision of this site. They create real music that only a husband and wife dealing with real husband and wife issues could come up with so we say thanks for that. If you’re not familiar with …
