13 Bible Verses to Pray Over Your Husband

For those of us who are believers we know this to be true:

There is power in the Word of God.

Recently I was reminded of this when I read an Instagram post that spoke to using the Word of God to pray over our children (stay tuned for that in the coming weeks). I wept when I read those words. Somewhere along the way I forgot about the power that comes from praying the Word of God when it comes to the people I love.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. (Deuteronomy 28:13)

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

I was reminded that not only can I look to the Word for direction on how to pray when it comes to my own life and my family as a whole but for each of the individual members that fill it. Not only can I pray for them but I can pray over them.13-bible-verses-to-pray-over-your-husband

My mother’s email address is armed4warfare. I always cringed when she would give this address to someone. Is the lady at Macy’s going to think she is some militant woman ready to do combat? But the thing is, my mom made it with spiritual warfare in mind. My mom is a warrior and God uses her in mighty ways when she goes before Him in prayer. Her weapon of choice? God’s words!

And while the manner in which I pray may be different God can still use me to bless and minister to my own family. Not only has this encouraged me to step up my prayer game but it has encouraged me to take a deeper look at God’s word.  After stumbling upon a post that shared Bible verses to pray over your husband I felt compelled to share some of them with you.

I have heard so many women speak to the fact that we are tired of fighting for our marriages and families. We have grown weary but maybe we are doing it – fighting all wrong? Perhaps our prayers need to change from Lord please help my husband not be so stubborn to Lord please help my husband continue to lead our family, help us to live in a way that will glorify you.

Over the next few weeks as I take a closer look at the Word particularly when it comes to incorporating scripture into my prayers I will share Bible verses that we can pray over our husbands, wives and children. If you know of some additional ones please leave them in the comments. My prayer is that we will see God move in our marriages and our families as a whole as we put Him first and seek Him in all things.

Take a look at 13 Bible verses to pray over your husband:

1. How to love your wife

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.”
~ Ephesians 5:25-29 (NKJV)

2. Walking in unity

“I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love…” ~ Ephesians 4:1-2 (NKJV)

3. Discernment

“And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ…” ~ Philippians 1:9-10 (NKJV)

2 very important prayers every married couple should pray over each other.

Prayer for removing the demonic that was empowered by the Iniquities:
Now I bind the strongman of deception, and command all devouring spirits of lust and pride to leave me, my spouse, and my children and go under the feet of Jesus Christ. I declare my marriage Holy to the Lord, and I invite the Holy Spirit to flood my marriage with the Light of the Truth of the Word of God. I now seal the perimeters of my family with the sanctifying Blood of Jesus Christ, Amen!!!

Prayer for cleansing of the substances of the curses:
Now I break all remnants of the substance of disorder disharmony and disunity. I break the substance from me, my spouse, and my children in Jesus name. I command a breaking of all bondage and a loosing of all the besetting sins. I now bring my spirit, and the spirits of my spouse and children to you Father God. I invite your Light to shine upon us and bring the blessing to us. I now allow You to remove all shards of the substance of the curse from every portion of our spirits in Jesus Christ, AMEN!!!

I just posted these on my page on the 8th of November!!!

      Hi again Bobbie,

While I would have to agree with the advice Terese gave you I also would like to encourage you to consider talking to a professional as well. They may be able to provide you with additional support with regards to how you are feeling. A counselor can often give you suggestions or insight that will help you better be able to get through the day to day.

      Praying for you.

Pray for peace, strenghth, and acceptance for whatever God’s will is concerning your husband. Sometimes we can’t see the blessing while we’re going through the storm, but everything happens for a reason. All you can do is your part. Be blessed and stay encouraged.

Good article. Every wife can’t pray over her husband or family because they may have a contrary heart and continuous spirit because she haven’t submitted herself to her husband’s authority as the head of the household like the bible says. Every wife in the bible wasn’t a good thing to her husband because they didn’t follow God’s outline of a good wife that he said is a good thing for the husband. If your wife has followed God’s outline, she can pray over you and the family because of that pure and noncontinuous spirit that she will not have.

I have been praying for my husband self and family for 26 years and it has not gotten any better my children are grown and I now ask God can I leave. I would only stay because I feel sorry for him. And just when I give in he does the same thing. I know God does not want me to be unhappy. I have listen to others prayed about it and it’s my decision. I will be fine financially but my fear is the unknown. But I love God to much to live in sin or become and adultery and if I stay any longer it would happen. My biggest concern is knowing he will be taken care of. I have put everybody before me and they all have careers and I need to find what God has for me!

How did abigail do it married to nabal. She did for a time. we have to been strong. God still hears yr prayer.
