Haven’t planned the family’s summer vacation yet? Tired of the same old vacation? Don’t know where to start?  Consider an all-inclusive resort vacation. Forget the old boring, rundown all-inclusive resorts of yester year, today’s all-inclusive resorts are sleek, modern, fun-filled resorts in fabulous destinations. BTW…they’re also priced not to break the bank!

Here are the top reasons why your next vacation should take you to an all-inclusive resort…

  • Leave your wallet at home. All-inclusive resorts are just that…your vacation price includes absolutely everything. Under an all-inclusive plan, you pay for room, meals, activities, taxes, tips, ground transportation and entertainment all up front.
  • Amazing amenities.  The resorts are simply breathtaking and include all the amenities vacationers love and expect. From luxurious suites with state-of-the-art electronics with free Wi-Fi, these resorts also have top chef menus and gym quality fitness facilities. Depending upon the destination and the resort brand, guests also have unlimited access to golf courses, infinity pools and in-room/beachside massages.
  • Vacation your way. If you want family friendly, couples only, luxury or budget friendly vacation, there’s all-inclusive for that…LOL.
  • All-in-One Fun. Just because the prices include everything doesn’t mean the fun will be limited. Most resorts include all water sports and toys, beach games and activities and themed events in your vacation price.
  • Beautiful destinations. If you’re dreaming of  taking the family to on a vacation in a fabulous destination like St. Lucia, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta or Barbados chances are there’s an all-inclusive resort there waiting to greet you and the family.

Don’t think that vacationing at an all-inclusive resort will confine you to the resort complex. If you want to venture off the resort, that’s always an option available to you and your family. Resort staff can set-up an island tour or adventure for the family with a reputable guide often at a discounted price.

There’s still time to book a fabulous summer vacation. Explore great all-inclusive resorts at great rates on websites like www.orbitz.com and www.cheapcarribbean.com.

Happy travels!

5 Ways to Stay Healthy While Traveling

We all know that traveling is meant to be fun and that the ultimate goal is to relax, recharge and make memories with the family, but travel can also disrupt your healthy routines and eating habits. So that may leave you wondering how to stay healthy during travel. Let’s face it, being sick on vacation is not fun…AT ALL! As a medical professional and family traveler, I’ve come up with some fun and simple ways to have a great time on your family vacation while staying healthy. Here are my five favorite healthy travel tips:

1. Walk

If you’re in the airport, take a brisk walk around the terminal. This is especially easy if you’ve checked luggage, so you have a bit of freedom. In the event that you didn’t check your bags, use your luggage as resistance training and lug it around as you take a few laps. Bonus: Pushing your little one in a stroller is a win-win!

2. Snack Prep

We all know that traveling can destroy any diet. So, take along snacks that are easy to transport, like trail mix or what I like to call, nature’s candy…FRUIT! It’s easy. It’s portable. It’s TSA approved. It’s nutritious.

3. Relax

Easier said than done. How many times have we needed a vacation AFTER the vacation? Try to take a few minutes to rest on a chaise while the kids are in the pool. When the kids tucker out and turn in early, that’s the perfect opportunity to recuperate. Remember: Too much stress weakens the immune system.

4. Be creative

Want to get in some cardio? Run in the pool. Take the stairs in the hotel instead of the elevator, or by all means, book an adventurous calorie-burning excursion, like biking or a walking tour during your stay.

5. Wash. Wash. Wash.

Being on the go we sometimes throw our good habits out the window. Let’s not forget that even on vacation, hand washing is still very important. Remind everyone that they should wash their hands before and after they eat their meals. If there is no access to a restroom, use hand sanitizer. If you are determined to stay healthy during your vacation, be sure to set realistic goals for yourself and don’t be so hard on yourself. Have fun and enjoy your time away!
