 Week 1: Self-Gratitude

Week 2: Gratitude for my Spouse/Significant Other

Week 3: Gratitude for my children/family

Week 4: Gratitude for others

Week 4: Expressing Gratitude for Others

This time of year can be really hard for a lot of people. You never know what that smile, encouraging word or simple act of kindness can do for someone. I’m committed to being more intentional about expressing my gratitude this holiday season. It’s often easier to focus on ourselves and our families, but you may have that one powerful impact on an individual that could really alter the course of their lives for the better. We all have a purpose. And if we could all take time to express gratitude to our fellow brothers and sisters we meet in the street, the world would be a much better place.

Day 22: Reach out to a nearby shelter to see what immediate needs they have, and offer to go in and assist (and take others with you).

Day 23: If you have a church home, chances are, they are having some kind of food drive to help the less fortunate during the holiday. Volunteer to help get those bags together. The more people they have, the sooner the job gets done.

Day 24: Do you have an older family member in a nursing or retirement home you haven’t seen in a while? Take some time out to pay them a visit.

Day 25: If you don’t already have one, find a mentee that you can uplift and encourage. Dedicate some time to mentor a young man or woman or join a mentorship program in your area that you can give back to.

Day 26: This holiday season, research companies and organizations to support that give back to the less fortunate with every gift purchase.

Day 27: You know those clothes and shoes that you keep saying you’re going to wear every year, and every year they remain in the same place? Take some trashbags and gather all the clothes and accessories you no longer use/wear, and donate to your local Good Will or Salvation Army. Someone will be blessed by them.

Day 28: Give blood. This one is personal to me as my youngest needed a blood transfusion when she was just a month old. I have never been so grateful in my life. You never know whose life you might save by doing this one simple thing.

Day 29: Look for a local, family business to support, and then encourage others to do the same.

Day 30: The people who are hurting the most are generally the ones with the biggest smiles on their face. Reach out to someone today and tell them how much they are appreciated and loved.

BMWK family, did you complete this 30 day challenge with us? How were your results? Will you continue showing gratitude towards others?

Last night, almost everyone I personally know was in front of their television or on social media waiting for the indictment verdict against Officer Darren Wilson for shooting the unarmed teenager, Michael Brown.

The longer the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch spoke about the case, the more obvious it seemed that Officer Darren Wilson would go free.

Once the verdict was confirmed, many people took to social media to express their thoughts including celebrities. Here are a few Celebrity Tweets and their reaction to the verdict last night:

BMWK, What do you think about the verdict?
