25 Powerful Phrases Your Children Need to Hear More Often

I believe in affirmations and the power of words, especially when it comes to our children.

As parents, we shape our children and, in many ways, help define their futures. The majority of what they learn in life comes from us. There is power in parenting, and we have to always be conscious of that.

There are so many lessons I need my daughters to learn before they leave our home and venture out on their own. I know a large portion of those lessons will be what they learn by watching my actions. Another part, however, will come from what my husband and I speak into their lives. Parents can either build children up with positive words and phrases or do the opposite with negativity. It’s a choice.

We all know parenting can be challenging. It’s hard to remember to be positive when there is negativity either on your job or within your relationship. One can easily lose focus. Sometimes, the positivity we shower on our children may also be needed for ourselves, and that’s okay. I’ve learned that even in my toughest personal moments, my parenting goal is what helped me remember to put my children first. I have to be consistent in reminding them of just how amazing they really are. The more they hear it, the more likely they are to accept it as truth.

Here are 25 phrases every child should hear often:

  1. God loves you.
  2. I love you.
  3. Anything is possible.
  4. You are braver than you think.
  5. The world is yours.
  6. Yes you can.
  7. I believe in you.
  8. I trust you.
  9. You are smart.
  10. You are beautiful.
  11. You are handsome.
  12. Don’t ever let anyone tell you what you cannot do.
  13. Pursue what you want with everything you have.
  14. Why not you?
  15. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
  16. You’ve got this.
  17. I am proud of you.
  18. You bring me joy.
  19. You’re the only one who can stop you.
  20. There aren’t any limits on what you can become.
  21. Don’t ever dim your light.
  22. You are my greatest gift.
  23. Love yourself first, and best.
  24. You are an amazing human being.
  25. You are enough.

Adults aren’t the only ones who experience doubt, fear and frustration in life. Children, more than ever, need us to pour into them. They need constant inspiration and who better to receive it from than the people they love and trust most.
