It is hot. That can only mean one thing…summer is here. With summer comes barbecues, reunions, camps, and vacations on the beach. This is the time of year when families have an opportunity to bond and draw close to one another through a plethora of fun activities. But, like flipping burgers on the grill, there’s another side to summer. It’s one that bespeaks concern from places that at first glance appear fun, but can be downright dangerous if we aren’t careful. A safe and productive family summer is possible, however. Aside from taking obvious and necessary precautions in places like pools, beaches, campsites, parks, and on the highways, it’s important to stay prayed up as it is the most important layer of protection. To that end, we thought we’d offer three important prayers to help you and your family have a safe and productive summer 2018.
Prayer for Safety
Heavenly Father, Thank you for life. Thank you for the chance to see another summer and have the opportunity to spend time with my family. We have some plans this summer that I pray will bring us closer together and deepen our bond. Thank you for blessing us with such a wonderful family. I am so grateful to know that I am loved and needed. I pray to be able to give even more than I am given to.

Lord, summers can be a really wonderful time of year. But it can also be dangerous. It seems that as the weather heats up, so do tempers. Hot tempers lead to poor decisions. Poor decisions lead to dangerous events. I pray for your protection this summer from all of that. I pray that you place a legion of angels to guard our family from reckless behavior and poor decisions whether it’s of our own making or from others. I pray that You help us to always be mindful of our surroundings and keep careful watch over each other, especially our children. I pray that as we experience different things this summer that you help us to make safety a top priority. And, I pray that regardless of how excited we are to do something or go somewhere that we pay attention to your guidance and put your will first. Please protect our home when we are away. Please protect us as we drive on the road. Please protect us and those we love. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Prayer for Peace
Heavenly Father, Thank you for the life I am blessed with. I especially thank you for family and every opportunity we get to spend and uplift and encourage one another. As the summer rolls on, I pray for a time of peace for our family as well as those around us. Even though summer is a great time to build family relationships, it can also be a time when misunderstandings and disagreements can lead to damaged relationships. I pray our time with our family is filled with peace, kind words, and a lot of patience. As we interact with other families, I pray for agreement in everything that we do. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Prayer for Fun
Heavenly Father, Thank you for summer. Thank you for the chance to build great memories with our family. I pray that this summer is filled with more fun and excitement like never before. I pray that wherever we set our sights we will be encouraged. I pray there will be a lot of laughter, genuine excitement, and overflowing joy. I pray that the memories we make will truly last a lifetime. I pray that even while we are having fun we remember to serve those around us. I pray that we find fun in the ordinary and the extraordinary. I pray that our fun will be filled with peace and safety throughout the summer. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
