4th Grade Girl Recruited to Play Ball for University of Miami

Talk about skills. Last week, 9-year-old Jaden Newman spent 3 hours touring the University of Miami because they are actively recruiting her for their basketball team.

Although Jaden is still in elementary school, she has spent the last two seasons playing on the varsity team at Downey Christian School, a private high school in Orlando, Florida. Skills run in her family because Jaden’s older brother, Julian, started playing for Downey Christian School’s varsity team as a sixth grader. Jaden’s parents both possess a love for basketball and they passed that passion on to their children.

The young lady started playing basketball when she was 3 years old, and if you see her play, there is no denying that she is incredibly talented. The 4-feet 7-inch point guard moves across the court effortlessly.

Jaden is believed to be the youngest female player ever recruited to play for a Division I basketball team. Will Jaden end up playing for the Miami Hurricanes? Only time will tell. A lot can happen in 9 years.

BMWK Family, do you think Jaden is too young to be recruited for college basketball?  Is this about passion or pressure?
