5 Insanely Simple (and Romantic) Ways to Renew Your Wedding Vows

I have this grand image in my head about renewing our wedding vows on our 10th wedding anniversary in Hawaii with the kids by our sides. We honeymooned in Hawaii and it truly was an incredible experience. We always talk about going back, so the 10th anniversary seems perfect.

Will this trip take place? I’m not sure. My vision may even change in the next couple of years. But wherever we are, whatever we do, I would definitely love the opportunity to exchange vows again.

Some people renew their vows because the first time around just wasn’t what they were hoping for. Others do it because they want their kids to be a part of the exchange. And some do it simply because they are still very much in love and renewing their vows is a way to strengthen their marriage and recommit.

Whether you’ve been married for 5 years, 10 years, or 40 years, if you think renewing your vows is the right thing for your marriage, go for it. After all, who can argue with the renewal of a promise made before God.

Here are five insanely simple (and romantic) ways to renew your marriage vows:

A Small Family Cookout

I don’t know about you, but I love a good cookout. Family, friends and good food; what more do you need in life, right? Well, why not add a beautiful renewal to the mix? If you are already surrounded by the people you love, smoked BBQ, and margaritas, you might as well add to the celebration.

At Your Church

Contact the church you attend to see if you can have a very low key vowel renewal after Sunday services. It can just be you and your family. Small, simple, and full of God’s love.

At Your Favorite Restaurant

If you both have a restaurant you love, why not book one of their small event rooms and make a night of it? Exchange your vows right in the room and then enjoy a great meal with the people you love most.

During Your Family Vacation

Is it time for a family vacation? Have you been having staycations since your honeymoon? No more. Plan a fun family getaway and plan to renew your vows while you are there. Whether you do it poolside, oceanfront, or anything else that makes you happy, being away with the family is a great time to renew your vows.

Inside Your Home

Want to keep it super simple? Have a local chef come to your home to prepare a meal for your family, get a nice cake at a local bakery, and renew your vows right in your living room. What better place to recommit than the place you both call home.

Even with all my big Hawaii dreams, I think I might go for the cookout or inside my house. I don’t need much to be happy. Just good food and the people I love.
