7 Bond-Building Activities All Families Should Do Every Day Next Week

National Family Week couldn’t have come at a better time. Love, family, peace and togetherness are needed now more than ever.

According to the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities, a national organization working toward transformational change for families, National Family Week (November 21-28) is designed to build community connections and honor those who strengthen families. Why not use this week to also strengthen your family. Here are seven things you can do for everyday of National Family Week:

Monday: Game night

Whether you’re watching Monday Night Football as a family or playing board games, spend time enjoying each other’s company. A suggestion for making the night even more fun is allowing each family member the chance to select a game for all to play.

Tuesday: Bible study

An intimate family Bible study provides a comfortable space to learn, gain a deeper understanding and ask questions. It’s also a perfect time to pray for other families, your community and the country as a whole.

Wednesday: Family cooking night

With this particular Wednesday being the night before Thanksgiving, there’s probably a lot of meal prep that needs to happen. Why not make it a family affair? Get the family involved by delegating responsibilities to all that are able and make it fun.

Thursday: Thanksgiving celebrations with family

Remember just how important family truly is by sharing why you’re thankful for each of the family members present.

Friday: Family vision board night

Since the family will likely still be on a high from all that feel good during the holiday, use that momentum in thinking about the future. A vision board is the perfect visual representation for the future. Setting goals as a family can be a powerful way to keep the family focused on what’s most important. Pull out the old magazines, scissors and glue and start creating the vision each member sees for the family.

Saturday: Check out local family summits and fair

Attend an organized event like an information fair or a family summit, both events recommended by The Alliance for Strong Families. If there aren’t organized events in your community, create your own. Also be sure to extend invitations to other families in your neighborhood.

Sunday: A day of worship

You know the saying, “ A family that prays and worships together, stays together.” Invite extended family to worship with you or ask if you can worship with them. You know Grandma usually loves when the family visits her church, too. Make worship a family affair.

The concept of National Family Week is amazing. Let’s take it even further by participating, spreading the word and encouraging other families to do the same. The stronger our families, the better our communities and the more promising our children’s futures.
