Army Veteran and Her Son Receive a New Home

Jessica Blow, a woman who served 11 years in the Army, was discharged in December. What this Jacksonville, Florida mother didn’t expect was the struggle she would face to make ends meet.

Thankfully an organization called HomeStrong USA partnered with Bank of America to present Blow with a new home that she and her son could call their very own. The mother and son were overjoyed when they saw their new home.

Over 30 volunteers spent over 800 hours to transform an older home built in the 1950s into a beautiful modern home that would make Blow and her son smile from ear to ear.

According to First Coast News, Blow says, “I just can’t believe that I was picked for this. I now don’t have to worry about buying food or try to get housing…trying to find a place I can afford.” Blow calls the new homes a blessing. Currently a full-time college student, Blow says that this blessing will give her the opportunity to focus more on her 8-year-old son, Camron, and on her studies.
