Art of Love Relationship Series Recap: 50,000+ People Looking for Ways to Improve Marriage

The Art of Love Relationship series began this week and for those of you who haven’t heard, it’s a series of webcasts gathering many of the country’s most renowned relationship experts to discuss all things love, marriage and relationships. Eleven webcasts are scheduled, each focusing on a different topic, all teaching us how to connect, have better and more frequent sex, improve communication plus much more. Being a relationship expert myself, I couldn’t wait to sign up. I am always researching and reading any and everything couple related.

For those of you who missed the launch below are a few highlights:

The launch of the series (which drew 50,000+ individuals) began with Deepak Chopra, a world-renowned authority in the field of mind-body healing, a best-selling author of over 55 books, and the founder of the Chopra Center for Wellbeing.

Deepak enlightened us on what prevents couples from having the relationships they planned. Based on his insight we block our own love success and I completely agree. Deepak says our ego can overshadow our spirit which makes it harder for us to get the love we want.

Deepak also revealed tips for singles looking to attract love. The secret of attraction is being yourself, loving yourself as you are and showing up as kind, loving and attracting to others. He recommends we thank God for making us just the way we are, including both the positives and negatives. By saying “I love myself for being just like this” releases the guilt we feel and the idea that we have to be perfect.

Here’s more of how he describes what happens to us as adults in love. “As children, we start with a pure ability to love; it’s not natural to be unloving. Then we lose that innocence. We regain it by identifying people we’re attracted to; they are our mirrors.” He recommends we look into the eyes of the one we love and say I love me, just the way I am, because they are also a reflection of us.

The major walk-away from this first webcast in the series was the 3 A’s. These are appreciation, attention and affection. According to Deepak, a relationship struggles greatly without each of these key elements; the most important being attention. Focusing on these elements allows us to give up being right and listen and accept that people are people because of people. This helps us to understand why our loved one may act the way they do. With that knowledge we must set an intention to be more mindful of our partner’s experiences. If our goal is to enjoy the experience of love, the first step is to take the focus away from ourselves and place it on our spouse. Ask your partner what he/she needs and truly listen to the response. Relationships have evolved and the key to success is to give up the idea both partners need to change. Deepak says to be responsible and release the notion that the other person is the problem. It’s easy. Let go of the idea you and your spouse have to be perfect.

Deepak has always been inspiring and honest in his approach to healing and looking within. He is incredibly enlightening and because I am big on taking responsibility for our own actions, this was confirmation on how I have shown up in my own marriage and how I’ve helped other couples. The impact these relationship-focused webcasts will have on couples is amazing.
