Best known as a former model, restaurateur and a designer, B. Smith recently revealed, in an exclusive interview with CBS News, that she has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
Smith, 64, has done it all over the span of her career. She has her own line of olive oils, has published books, owns several restaurants, and even designs jewelry.
Showing signs of Alzheimer’s four years ago, Smith revealed her symptoms and concerns to her doctor before sharing it with her husband. B. Smith’s interview with Dr. John LaPook will air on Sunday, June 15th on “CBS Sunday Morning.” In the interview Smith says, “I think the future‘s going to be fine.” She continues, “I’m going to do my best to make it work out for me and for as many people as I can possibly help, too.”
Alzheimer’s affects the lives of more than 5 million Americans and although the diagnosis can often cause a lot of pain and stress within families, B. Smith and her husband, Dan, say it has brought them much closer together.
