{Be A Better Spouse Challenge} Tip #10: Pick One Goal To Work On As A Couple

Let’s face it: sometimes married life can be a little ho-hum. Go to work, pay bills, play with the kids, watch TV, wash dishes, go to sleep….do it all over again.

When we were dating, it was exciting because we knew there was a “next level”  to achieve. Places to take our relationship and make it stronger than ever. After the flush fades a bit from the “I do,” we tend to stop pushing as hard because technically, we’ve “made it.”

Tip #10 of our Be A Better Spouse Challenge invites you to create a new goal for the marriage – go on a nice date, have a meaningful conversation about the issues most important to you and pick one mutual goal for your marriage.

This can be a financial goal – “We want to increase our retirement savings so we can relocate to Arizona at age 65.” It can be spiritual – “We will become more involved in our church ministry, giving counsel to other couples in need.”

Setting goals can help to provide a new purpose, meaning and direction for your marriage.  After you have established what your goals are, take action by working together to accomplish your goals.  It truly helps to strengthen the relationship and develop intimacy within the marriage.

BMWK family, do you care to share what one of your marriage goals will be?
