{Be A Better Spouse Challenge} Tip #13: Volunteer

Sometimes it’s good to do something for someone else. You might be thinking right now, I do something for these kids and [Insert Spouse’s Name Here] every day! But that is what you’re supposed to be doing.

Serving others through volunteerism is a quick and easy way to gain perspective on yourself, your world and the people closest to you. Should you be open to the experience, it will undoubtedly force you to gain an appreciation for your own personal set of circumstances and leave with the warm and fuzzies.

And if you get into a rhythm and make a habit of volunteering – once a week, once a month, five times a year, etc. it will have a long lasting impact on your heart. One that, if in the right spirit, will motivate you to share the experience with your family and get them involved too.

Volunteering can take many forms. You can be a mentor, a tutor, a worker at your church, a worker assembling care packages for the hungry, a person distributing flyers canvassing and campaigning for an organization. The possibilities are endless as is the potential to become a fully well rounded and thoughtful spouse.
