My husband knows my heart and that’s the best gift that he can give me.
He knows exactly what I need, even during the times that I’m not able to articulate it. And that makes me love him even more.
Every year he asks me what I want for my birthday. And each year, without fail, I say “nothing.”
But somehow he knows.
- He knows when “nothing” means that I am sacrificing because of other financial priorities.

He’s listening with his eyes, his ears, and his heart.
And it’s why he always makes every birthday so special for me.
Because every gift, no matter how big or small, comes from his heart to mine.
Our birthdays are two days apart. We agree every year not to exchange gifts.
But every year, he manages to get me all of the things that I mentioned I wanted (in passing) – – a shirt, a new pair of pajamas, a pair of boots, a sweater, or simply breakfast in bed.
