BMWK Exclusive: “Christmas on the Potomac” Opening Night!

Its official, the holiday season is here! Gaylord National kicked off the holiday season with the fourth annual “Christmas on the Potomac” celebration with a VIP event on Saturday, November 19th. BMWK was there to witness the lighting of the 60 ft. glass Christmas tree, see the DreamWorks character parade, the holiday dancers and be amazed by two million twinkling holiday lights. There’s no place like home, but there’s no place like Gaylord National for the holidays.

Gaylord National has been transformed into a winter wonderland complete with an indoor snowfall. In addition to all the beautiful decorations, Santa and the breathtaking tree, the resort is also home to the new holiday attraction “Gaylord National’s ICE!” featuring DreamWorks’ Merry Madagascar. Kids will love getting an up close and personal look at scenes from the upcoming TV special where the DreamWorks gang helps Santa save Christmas. The unique twist? It’s all carved out of 2 million pounds of colorful ice. It is truly an amazing sight to see!

Don’t miss the beautiful nativity scene also carved completely out of ice. Once you’ve frozen your bun buns off with several trips down the greatest ice slide ever made, warm up with a hot cup of cocoa in the gift shop or show the kids some fancy footwork on the ice skating rink. If you can’t make it to “Gaylord National’s ICE!” visit Gaylord Opryland, Gaylord Texan or the Gaylord Palms, as they also have amazing signature holiday events.

“Gaylord National’s ICE!” is open now through Sunday January 8, 2012. Adult tickets are $25-$35,* Kids (ages 4-12) tickets are $20-$30,* and children age 3 and under are FREE! Special $15 VIP passes are also available that allows you to meet the Penguins, bypass the line and enjoy a cup of cocoa. Visit www.ChristmasOnthePotomac.com or www.GaylordNational.com to purchase your tickets.

Create your own holiday traditions and enjoy a little ice!
