Celeb Marriage Scene: Magic Johnson Makes History; Michelle Obama Takes First Daughters On Spring Break

Magic Johnson’s group shelled out $2.15 billion in an record-breaking purchase Tuesday making Magic’s group owners of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The auction purchase price comes in over top of the previous record sales price for a U.S. sports franchise, which was previously held by the sale of the Miami Dolphins for $1.1 billion. Magic expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I am thrilled to be part of the historic Dodger franchise and intend to build on the fantastic foundation laid by Frank McCourt as we drive the Dodgers back to the front page of the sports section in our wonderful community of Los Angeles.” {Wall Street Journal}

The Harvard Black Men’s Forum honored Jada Pinkett-Smith by naming her Woman of the Year at their 18th annual Celebration of Black Women. Jada was recognized for both her professional success as an actress and for she and husband Will Smith’s philanthropy.
