The couple told US Weekly that they are excited about their special summer delivery and have been wanting a child for a long time. Rowell recently made public statements about behind-the-scenes racism involving the series that has never employed an African-American writer in its 37-year history, even though Y&R’s audience is estimated to be at least 45 percent Black. Director Spike Lee and his wife, activist Tonya Lewis Lee, released their children’s book, Giant Steps to Save the World this month. The book encourages kids to think big and follow their own footsteps by using examples of change makers throughout history. Giant Steps is the third children’s book Mr. and Mrs. Lee have released to promote positivity to parents and their little ones.
