I can remember like it was yesterday. We were three months away from celebrating our first year anniversary. Up to this point, our marriage had been one of amazing bliss. I don’t know if it’s because we didn’t recognize him, but the devil had started to make pit stops in our relationship. If you’re anything like we were, you will need many prayers to get the devil out of your marriage. This should be a good start.

My wife and I met on Facebook, so there were quite a lot of things we were still learning about one another. One of the things we hadn’t discussed was a part of my past that I was still struggling with. Now, it was time to put it out there.
The Devil’s Agenda
What you learn in marriage is that it doesn’t matter how bad or even how great you begin your marriage, there is one thing every marriage will run into. John 10:10 tells it to us very plainly.
“The devil comes ONLY to steal, kill and destroy.”
So, what is it that every marriage runs into?
The devil’s agenda to DESTROY your marriage is something every marriage has to face.
Here is a quick list of devices that give him entry into your marriage.
- Blame
- Selfishness
- Secrets
- Anger
- Pornography
- Finances
- Infidelity
- Lying
- Neglect
- Verbal abuse
Have you experienced any of those in your marriage? If so, then you may have given room for the devil to have a foothold in your marriage. No matter how big or how small your issue is there is one thing you can do to start to get the devil out of your marriage…and that my friend is prayer.
Prayer Versus the Devil’s Agenda
The Bible states, in Mark chapter 9, verse 29, “And this kind can ONLY be driven out by PRAYER”.
Prayer is the greatest weapon you have to combat against the devil’s agenda to steal, kill and destroy your marriage.
We’ve experienced it first hand in our marriage. On that day when I revealed to my wife about my issue, it didn’t settle too well with her. I was wrong for holding that secret from her. She was upset, and I did my best to explain to her why I didn’t say anything.
This caused me to retreat and to lift our marriage up to God. I prayed a prayer that I believe changed EVERYTHING for my marriage.
The Makings of a Perfect Prayer
Now, you may be wondering,…”Wow, what prayer did you pray?” Well, it wasn’t the prayer I prayed, but actually, the instructions that I received once I prayed.
God told me, “Go pray together.”
I immediately was taken back when I heard Him speak to my spirit, but I knew it was Him.
So, I went to my wife and asked her for us to pray together. When we locked hands and began to pray to God together. The devil lost all power in that moment. The Bible states, where two or three gather together in His Name, God is there in the midst. We know where God is the devil cannot be.
Our prayer together was the perfect prayer to get the devil out of our marriage. This caused us to experience a refreshing and a reigniting of intimacy between one another.
I encourage you and your spouse to pray the perfect prayer. The perfect prayer isn’t about saying the right things but simply about you and your spouse coming and praying together. There is no more perfect prayer than that.
Now, go, and don’t let the devil win any longer by praying the perfect prayer.
