Final Print Issue of JET Magazine Hits Newsstands

Hitting newsstands today, June 9th, is the final print issue of JET Magazine. The cover pays tribute to the magazine’s long legacy by featuring images of JET Magazine covers from the last 63 years.

This final print issue of JET will include a tribute to the late Dr. Maya Angelou, a letter from President and Mrs. Obama, coverage of African American history, top music albums from the 1950s to the present, and much, much more.

Linda Johnson Rice, the chairman of Johnson Publishing Company stated, “I am very proud of this last issue of JET Magazine. It epitomizes the historical influence that this magazine has made in this country.”

Mitzi Miller, the former editor-in-chief of JET Magazine, and now editor-in-chief of Ebony Magazine, says, “this issue serves as the final bow to everything JET has done over the years.” Miller also adds, “I’m very proud of the work I’ve accomplished over the past three years, and excited to see JET now continue this tradition in a digital platform.”

JET Magazine will be launching a new weekly digital magazine app to meet the needs of its readers. The app is scheduled to launch on June 30th.
