Earlier this week, hundreds gathered in Georgia’s State Capitol to help Jacquelyn and Kenneth Johnson find justice for their 17-year-old son, Kendrick Johnson, who was found dead on January 11th in a rolled-up wrestling mat in his high school gymnasium in Valdosta, Georgia.
Johnson’s death was ruled accidental after an autopsy was conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Unwilling to accept this initial ruling, his family had his body exhumed for a second autopsy, which revealed that his vital organs had been removed and he was stuffed with newspaper and store circulars.
There are countless questions about how Kendrick died, what happened after his death, and why details about this case are being covered up. Certain that their son’s death was foul play, the Johnson’s are determined to get answers.
To help more people understand the details behind this case and why they should get involved, Dream Defenders, a Florida-based youth advocacy group that confronts injustice, recently released a video called #JusticeForKJ that offers a candid perspective on the details around this case.
With supporters like Reverend Al Sharpton, Martin Luther King, III and many more, we are hopeful that this case will receive the attention it deserves and that justice will be found for Kendrick Johnson.
