First Lady Michelle Obama on the Cover of ESSENCE Magazine’s August Issue

The cover story for the August 2014 issue of Essence magazine is “Building a Bright Future,” and it will feature our First Lady, Mrs. Michelle Obama. 

This issue marks the seventh time Mrs. Obama will be interviewed by Essence magazine. During her interview with the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Vanessa K. Bush, the First Lady will discuss her passion for higher education, the importance of parental involvement, and raising children who are resilient. 

In the interview with Essence Mrs. Obama says, “We cannot waste the opportunity that we have here in America, especially as African-Americans. Our ancestors fought and bled and died so that we could go to school, and I still think about that.”

The August 2014 issue of Essence will hit newsstands on July 4th.
