Well, if that doesn’t make you proud, we don’t know what will. Allan Guei, a star basketball player from Compton High School in LA, won the local foul-shooting contest – and pocketed $40,000 in the process. Three months later, Guei, who has a full-ride scholarship to Cal State Northridge, decided to give the money to the runners-up.
From Yahoo! Sports:
“I’ve already been blessed so much and I know we’re living with a bad economy, so I know this money can really help my classmates,” he said in a release from the school. “It was the right decision.”
Guei was allowed to participate as a reward for his good grades. The contest was only eligible for students with a 3.0 GPA or above. Under NCAA rules, he would have been allowed to keep the money.
