I will email this to my daughters. I feel sorry for my future son-in laws. I don’t care if you have Bey and Jay Z money. I have never known a man that did not want a home cooked meal. I will say that when I was raising my kids and giving them advice that it did not go in one hear and out the other. Maybe they were really paying attention to me when I was in the kitchen cooking. My son would get in the kitchen and cook him something to eat. It not only looked good, it tastes good. If he can get in the kitchen and cook I know my daughters learned something also.
Turkeys come with a wire to connect the tips of the legs (no twine needed). Turkeys also come with a built in thermometer so no need for an extra one, unless you shoot and kill your own turkey. LOL.
I make my turkey in a brown paper bag. I of course wash it, pat dry, rub my turkey with vegatable oil, season with salt, pepper and poultry seasoing., fill the cavaity with celery stalks and onions and a stick of maragrine. Place in a brown paper bag, fold the top of the bag and put slits in it. I don’t have to turn it over or ever baste it. I get so much stock from the turkey that I use for my gibblets and gravy and also my dressing. I also do this when I roast a chicken. I can’t have my man feining until the holidays for a taste of the holidays durning the off season. My hubby cooks the ham, chitlins and the deserts. I do the traditional side dishes but will also make a big pan of lasagne. My comment is long because there was not one. I hope somebody got something out of this.
Kids are listening when we talk and watching when we cook. I hope someone tries the brown bag tip. Thanksgiving is next Thursday and if you want a test run with the brown paper bag, buy a chicken between now and then and try a test run. It works. My biggest problem is going to be finding a “brown paper bag this year. The majority of the stores I shop at don’t ask “paper or plastic”.

Thanks for the tips Anna. Our 6 year old is always sitting under TheMom when she cooks. I told her the other day I can just see her in a few years whipping up meals for her daddy.
