Icky Situations: Why I’m Not Ready for My Dream Car

On several occasions, I’ve written about being a proud card-carrying member of the “I drive a mini-van club.”  I’ve even warned people that talking about my mini-van could get you cut. Yes, it sounds a bit overboard…but it’s what I have to do keep myself motivated in this temporary phase of toting my little ones around town in a mini-van. So for the next few years…mini-vans are Da Bomb!

But I am just like every other mom and I have dreams too. And when I look into my future about 7 years from now, I do not see a mini-van anywhere in sight. I see a luxury car, I see fine leather, wood grain, power everything, and a nice sound system. But, I am a true believer in the concept that if you can’t handle and appreciate the things you have today, then you probably will not be able to handle or appreciate any new things that come your way.  And when I look around my mini-van, I can tell that I am not quite ready for that dream car yet.

What I see in my mini-van can only be described by the Clorox® Ick-tionary™ ( www.icktionary.com , an wiki for everyday ick – that will make you laugh, commiserate, and conquer the icky situations that everyone goes through.)  Right there, up front, near the driver’s side you will find – Crud Cozie (kruhd koh-zee) – The yucky mass of fluids that fill the car cupholder after sodas and coffees spill there.

Yes, my cupholders are sticky and crumby..it’s not pretty.  And I really can’t blame the kids for that. ( Don’t get me wrong…there is plenty of other junk in the mini-van to blame them for.)  But, I have to take responsibility for contributing to that mess too.

Once my son asked me for a new bike. Guess what I told him?  I told him: “I’m not buying you a new bike because you are not taking care of the one you have now.” And that rule applies to me too.  I have to start taking better care of my mini-van before I move on to my dream car. In my mini-van, I have to carry around Clorox.  I don’t plan on doing that with my luxury car….there will be no spills!!!

Go out to the Clorox Ick-tionary, www.icktionary.com, and check out all of the hilarious terms that they have defined for life’s everyday icky situations. And then let me know below which ones you can relate to.
