It May Be Your Last Chance to Tweet President Obama; Here’s Why

As the election nears and President Obama’s days in office come to a close, the everyday access that we once enjoyed with the nation’s first “social media” president may come to an end.

Throughout his terms in office and even during his first run for election, President Obama has been an active player on social media, using the outlets to engage with Americans, talk about important issues and share photos.

But now the POTUS’s Twitter handle, along with the FLOTUS’s and vice president’s handle, will go to the country’s next office holders. So as of Jan. 20, 2017, @POTUS will be used by the 45th President of the United States (if that president chooses to use social media at all).

So now is your chance to tweet, Facebook message and snap President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and President Joe Biden while you can.

All of President Obama’s old tweets will be transferred to a new handle, @POTUS44, but there is no certainty that Obama will use the handle as actively as he had in office—if at all.

BMWK, it’s now your chance to share with the president and first lady how much you appreciated them while they were in office. What would you want to tweet them?
