Social media is abuzz on Thursday nights in anticipation and discussion of ABC’s show Scandal. Kerry Washington, the show’s main star is creating even more excitement after her wedding to NFL player, Nnamdi Asomugha: she is pregnant with her first child.
Us Weekly was among the first to confirm the news with a source stating that she’s about four months along. This will be her and Asomugha’s first child following their marriage back in June. On being so private, much like her Scandal persona, Olivia Pope, Washington says that talking about her personal life just “doesn’t work” for her.
“I’ve had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it,” she explained. “But I couldn’t just turn around and say, ‘I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff.’ So I just thought, ‘Okay, no more.'”
To this day, she doesn’t openly discuss her recent marriage and when people comment on her ring, she simply says, “thank you” as she prefers to “just let it unfold.”
