LeVar Burton Starts Campaign to Bring Back “Reading Rainbow”

Do you remember “Reading Rainbow” with LeVar Burton? I sure do. I loved “Reading Rainbow” and everyone I knew loved it too.

When the show went off the air in 2006, LeVar Burton received an overwhelming response from people everywhere, wanting the show to come back. With that feedback, plus his strong personal desire to nurture the love of reading in children everywhere, LeVar Burton started a Kickstarter campaign.

Burton is on a mission to get the funding needed to bring back “Reading Rainbow.” And he isn’t trying to bring it back to TV, because he is trying to reach a new generation. The plan is to offer “Reading Rainbow” on the web and in as many classrooms as possible, at no cost to the school.

With over 33,000 backers to date, raising over $1.5 million, it’s clear that Burton is not the only person who wants to see “Reading Rainbow” return.
