Lifetime Kicks Off Black History Month With “The Gabby Douglas Story”

Winning numerous state championship titles at a very early stage in her gymnastics career, it is no surprise that Gabby Douglas became the girl we were all cheering for in the 2012 Olympics.

As Gabby continued to make her mark in the world of competitive gymnastics, her family was faced with a decision that would forever change the course of her life – letting Gabby live away from home to train with a renowned coach that would help her each her goal of Olympic glory.

Kicking off Black History Month, the premiere of “The Gabby Douglas Story” will air on Lifetime at 8/7c.  An inspiration to us all, the now 18-year-old Gabby Douglas is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist who shows brown girls everywhere that anything is possible.

Sydney Mikayla (Whitney) and Imani Hakim (Everybody Hates Chris) share the role of playing Douglas and the film also stars Regina King as Douglas’s mother.  Gabby Douglas also makes an appearance in the film as herself.

A story of adversity, perseverance and remarkable glory, “The Gabby Douglas Story” is a film for the entire family to see.
