Nigerian Parents Plead for the Return of Their Daughters

In a situation that is unimaginable for most of us, parents and family of 230 girls abducted in Nigeria recently protested in the hopes of having their daughters returned to them.

A group of 230 Nigerian girls were kidnapped from their school in Chibok more than two weeks ago by Islamic militants.

The group accused of taking the girls, Boko Haram, has not admitted to the crime.  The group’s name means “Western education is forbidden” in the local language, Hausa. The same group is also responsible for numerous violent acts in northern Nigeria in recent years. This violence has resulted in over 1500 being killed.

On Wednesday a group of parents assembled a march in the capital, Ajuba, pleading for more help to get their girls back. The girls that were taken are between 16 and 18 years of age. There is fear the the girls are being forced to marry their abductors or  are being used as sex slaves.

Our thoughts and prayers are with these young ladies and their family members.
