After more than 16 hours and 2 days of deliberation, the verdict is in for the George Zimmerman trial.
10pm EST in Sanford, Florida, George Zimmerman was found not guilty of 2nd degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in February 2012.
There was no audible reaction in the courtroom, and Zimmerman had little to no reaction after the reading of the verdict. Trayvon’s parents were not present for the reading of the verdict. Zimmerman’s family was all smiles.
Zimmerman’s bond will be released and GPS monitor will be turned off upon recess of the case. The judge stated the evidence will be released.
People outside of the courthouse are extremely emotional while trying to accept the news they just heard.
