Our History Almost Became History – You Won’t Believe What “Slaves” Are Being Called in New Textbook

So our history was about to be history if not for one savvy 9th grade Texas student, his pro-active mom, and a well deserved, open handed social media slap in the face! Facebook was set on fire when Roni Dean-Burren posted the revisionist history found in her son’s McGraw-Hill published World Geography textbook.

Her son, Coby Burren, brought it to his mom’s attention via the following text message which she posted on Facebook:

The book refers to slaves as “workers.”  Of course, these “workers” hopped on a boat all willy nilly and came to America of their own free will.  Ok, it doesn’t go that far; but if not for this mom, and if the rest of us don’t wake up and pay attention, one day, could it?

Here’s what it said: “The Atlantic Slave Trade between the 1500s and 1800s brought millions of workers from Africa to the southern United States to work on agricultural plantations.”  Check out the video posted on Burren’s Facebook page below.
