On Monday, officials announced that over 60 women and girls abducted by Islamic extremist two weeks ago have escaped, however the more than 200 girls abducted in April still have not returned home.

When reports of this kidnapping surfaced two weeks ago, Nigerian security forces and government officials denied the abduction. According to the CNN, a security source and a local vigilante leader confirmed that the girls and women escaped from their captors on Thursday and Friday of last week.
