The NBA recently announced that they have hired Pamela El as their new chief marketing officer. In her new role, that begins August 18th, El will be responsible for marketing and advertising for the NBA, WNBA, and NBA Development League.
Pamela El is is not only the first woman to hold this position, but she is also the first African American placed in this role.
El, whose career started in 1983, comes to the NBA with a wealth of marketing experiencing, including being the former senior vice president of financial brand marketing for Nationwide Insurance.
According to Mark Tatum, the deputy commissioner of the NBA and the person El will report to, she will be a “huge addition as we work to build our brand on a global scale.”
