Yesterday many, many, many people like myself in the DC area and I’m assuming probably around the country were left paperless. It seems like everyone wanted to chronicle the historic Presidential Race victory of Barack Obama so the result was you couldn’t find a Washington Post newspaper in the entire city. There was actually a line a few blocks long at Washington Post headquarters waiting for them to reprint more papers which they did I heard, but those went like flapjacks too. While on the way home I thought I finally had my chance. I heard on the radio that papers were being delivered between 7-9PM at 5 or 6 different store chains one of which was close to my house. I swept in to get my paper and noticed a few sistas standing at the customer service desk. Of course the paper rack was empty so I thought maybe they hadn’t come in yet, this is the burbs and all, but on the way out I heard them telling the sistas that the new ones were already gone too.
For now this is the best we have, the image above that I got off of the Post website. They’re selling a reprint for 65 bucks but I’d rather have the 1.50 version, it’s a little lighter on the pockets.
BMWK were the papers in your city sold out? Did you get one? Did you collect some other type of memorabilia to remember the victory? Let us know.

I got the free Express paper in the morning. People were carzy for waiting in them lines for a newspaper. I heard the NY Times is being sold on ebay for $300. I’m not much for collecting stuff so it don’t make sense to me.

I went to pick my kids up from school last nite and the teachers were trying to head out in time to a local 7-11 for the papers. I ordered a Commerative package from the San Diego Times (a friend of mine lives there and sent me their link) This is truly a joyous time for us all and although my soon to be 4 year-old doesn’t really understand all the hype, he sure knows who Barack is and we will be front and center January 20th!!!!

I did stand in line for 40 minutes and ended up with a few copies for my family. I am so happy about being able to show it to my kids when they are older and letting them know that they were there.

Another day and no paper. All I’ve got to show for it is this .jpg computer image above and a .pdf file. Well tomorrow the special edition Time Magazine hits the streets so if you want one you better bring your “A” game because I will.

The pic above is also to be on the next issue of Jet. I bought subscription for Jet and Ebony for a childs 6th grade trip to camp. I never read either magazine. I did not renew my subscriptions last month but I will buy the Jet issue. I have never seen any President, First Lady and First family on so many covers of magazines.
Maybe this will wake up publishers to put black celebrity babies on the covers of their magazines. We/everybody can now look for change. This is not a black or white change. This is not just a change for America but the World.
There were 3 black males between the ages of 11-15 walking the cross walk as I drove home for lunch yesterday. They did cross before the walk light said “go” and I had to break for them. The youngest in the group raised his fist and I read his lips. (not sure if he thought I was white and he had more power that day than the previous day) He said Obama. I too put my fist up and said Obama. We both just smiled. I think black ppl are feling a new power a new sense of pride and it feels oh so good.

Thanks for the info. I will check out the site. I just wonder if they will on purpose ship each item seperately. I ordered leeter head paper for work, 6000 sheets and I got one delivery last Friday and the rest of my order on Monday. I have noticed two years ago that it costs me more in shipping my own non related work online purchases. They do get more money out of me shopping online and for some reason I get them shipped in “pieces/sections”. Of course I do know why. Some items/letters/cards/ are now being sent via email. Our Post office is taking a big hit. We can now send a email card for Every holiday, RSVP and thank you notes for attending any event. I can say that I am not too rude that I do take the time to pick up a card and write my own words to ” Thank you for the invitation and we had a nice time.

I wish that the man that pays me allows me money for a “spell check” or my own editor to edit. (home and office).

Just scooped a few copies of the Post for 1.50 each at Borders. Went in to get the Time magazine which was sold out but they had more reprints of the Post and also has People which actually has a better pic than Time.

I was able to purchase 7 copies at the Washington Post HQ, no lines. I purchase two copies for myself and share the remaining with my co-workers.

Today at the mall I saw a vendor selling tee shirts with that photo on it. I might have bought one if theirs had been color!

Hubby bought us his and hers in approiate colors (black for him and pink for me) a few weeks before election day. I wore my shirt yesterday to work. On Saturday if I have to go to work I wear my weekend clothes. A couple wanted to know where I got my shirt from. I called hubby and he said at “a corner store in the hood”. Our shirts do have a color pic. I am sure there will be many reprints in color coming to your “store in the hood” very soon. LOL.
