Planning a Wedding; 4 Steps that Will Get You Started

With the recent passing of Valentine’s Day, many lucky young ladies received engagement rings with their boxes of chocolates and red roses. You may be one of the new brides-to-be and are wondering what to do next. I’m going to share four steps that will help you in the wedding planning process.

Step 1 – Set a Date.

If you are struggling with a date, figure out which season you want to get married in. Ask yourself if you want to get married when it’s cold, warm, hot or in-between. If you are getting married locally, the weather you will experience will help you decide. If you are still undecided, consider if you want to get married outside or inside. Sometimes outdoor venues are less expensive and provide a natural background which helps cut decorating costs. Now that brings us to step #2.

Step 2 – Create a Budget.

Decide how much money you have to spend on your wedding. Will parents help with the costs or will you and your fiancé be footing the bill? Think about what you want for the ceremony and the reception and if you are going to take a honeymoon afterwards. You also need to decide on the number of guests you are going to invite. Will it be an intimate wedding or a large celebration? If you are feeling a panic attack sneaking up on you thinking about all these questions, let’s go to the next step.

Step 3 – Hire a Coordinator

Hire a coordinator. To alleviate the stress that comes with planning a large party, get help from an expert. Wedding coordinators/planners can help you locate venues, help with caterers, flowers, dj’s, and just about anything to help your wedding go smoothly. Often times, coordinators are equipped with their own decorations that will tie into your theme which will save you money.

Step 4 – Pick a Venue

Visit different venues so you can get a feel of the atmosphere. While venue shopping, talk to the staff to determine what is included in the price. Sometimes decorations are included; sometimes you have to use their caterers. Once you find a venue you both love, book it! Don’t procrastinate because they will fill up fast. Keep in mind that even December dates fill quickly due to company Christmas parties.
