She’s a Brick…House! Why ‘This’ Serena Williams Grand Slam is Worth Celebrating

For most tennis professionals, winning the U.S., Australian, and French Opens, along with Wimbledon is a heck of a dream.  In the world of tennis, this dream is called a Grand Slam.  For tennis great Serena Williams, that dream came true for the FOURTH consecutive time this year.  I mean, for her, it’s become a common feat.

So that’s why I don’t get it.

What I mean is – what’s with all the Serena Williams body image brouhaha?  In my neighborhood, on any given day, I come across a Serena Williams body type at least once.

They rock a lean six pack, firm backside, solid thighs, and ripped arms.

Many African American women, from the fitness guru to the stay at home mom, earn their “Grand Slammin” bodies in the gym, in the park, in their basements, or in the streets (I kid you not…a sister was on the sidewalk of a major street doing squats).  And whenever I see them, I think, you GO girl!

So, I’m just sayin’, let’s show some love to Serena.

While we celebrate her tennis Grand Slams, let’s also celebrate her Grand Slammin’ body.  She earned that “brick house” by defeating the likes of Russia’s Maria Sharapova, USA’s Lindsay Davenport, and even her own sister Venus Williams, over and over and over again.

You Go Girl!

In my neighborhood, that “Grand Slam” can be celebrated every day.

What about yours? Let me know.
