You may be familiar with Executive Producer and Writer Shonda Rhimes, the creator of such popular television shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, and most recently Scandal starring Keri Washington. Rhimes is now interested in diving into comedy, by partnering up with web series star Issa Rae of The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl.
Rae, also a budding filmmaker, is joining forces with Rhimes to bring a comedy to ABC called “I Hate L.A. Dudes”. Rhimas has been known to focus more on the drama side of things in her work, but with Rae’s natural hilarity, this show is expected to be a success already.
“I Hate L.A. Dudes” will focus on an aspiring female journalist who’s trying to get used to the dating scene in Los Angeles, and divulges her experiences on a male-driven Internet talk show. Rae will be working behind the scenes, serving as the show’s writer and co-producer next to Rhimes.
Check out the web trailer:
27 year old Rae is excited to be venturing into television, and giving her vision of women like her, claiming that when it comes to black characters on mainstream television and film, “I don’t see me.” The show is expected to debut some time next year.
Lol I would love to see this. But I will say not all L.A. men are metrosexual but a lot of them do have other issues.
“Bye, Mama!” Too funny. What they didn’t have time to show was that, the couple was leaving in the young lady’s car and that she was expected to pay for the date too. Yeah, L.A. men live San Diego too!
I like her series “Awkward Black Girl” better. That should be her coming out into mainstream than “I Hate LA Dudes”
This to me is not quite the mass issue in LA to me! I thought maybe it would have addressed the materialistic side, the Metro- sexual issue, the I refuse to work a real job because I’m Famous or about to be, the I will never settled down because I’m an expert at exploiting women with low self-esteem & know the Mr. Iceberg manuscript by Heart.
