Time is Running Out! 10 Things We’re Going to Miss Dearly About the Obama’s Marriage

[tps_header]Can we stop time? This can’t be happening. Am I the only one not mentally prepared to say goodbye to the end of an era? For the last 8 years our new normal has consisted of a Black president and Black first lady. We have literally lived through Black history. It pains me to say this, but I don’t think we’ll ever experience this again (hopefully I’m wrong).

One thing President Barack and Michelle did for the Black community was put Black love on display. In a world inundated with faulty relationships and reality T.V. housewives that aren’t married, the Obamas were a breath of fresh air. Here are:

The way he looks at her.

It could be anytime and anywhere, Pres. Obama don’t care who’s around. Clearly! He looks at Michelle with complete adoration. It’s clear he worships the grounds she walks on and drinks her bath water.

Their public displays of affection.

While I thoroughly have no interest in seeing you and your boo tongue each other down, I just love to see Barack and Michelle doing it.

They have fun together.

Being P.O.T.U.S. is a stressful ordeal, which is why if there’s a moment to have a good laugh, the Obama’s take it. What other President would gladly go on national tv and read insulting tweets about himself out loud? When was the last time you saw a first lady jump double dutch? The Obama’s raised the standard for fun in the White House. About time.

The way he protects her.

Remember that time the wind blew up Michelle’s skirt while they were boarding a plane and Pres. Obama gently pushed it down without making a fuss? That was almost a “worldstar” moment, but Michelle’s man stepped in on time.

The way she looks out for him.

Remember that time she fixed his tie before the state dinner? *romantic sigh* It’s the little things.

They are homie-lover-friends.

We’ve seen them lovingly embrace each other, lip lock, and fist bump. These are legit “homie-lover-friends” goals.

They put their family first.

Pres. Obama’s first book “Dreams from My Father” encapsulated his desire to have a relationship with the father he never knew. We’ve heard Michelle say on multiple occasions that she’s a mom first. They even have Mama Robinson (Michelle’s mother) living in the White House with them. It’s clear that family means everything to them.

They grew together.

She was working at the law firm. Pres. Obama was her intern. They were both going places in life, but they built together, neither leaving each other behind.

They’ve remained scandal-free.

We haven’t had to deal with infidelity in the White House and it’s a beautiful thing. Instead, Barack and Michelle have been a constant reminder that healthy Black marriages do exist.

They’re the first Black President and First Lady.

Do I really need to explain this one? Take it in these last few weeks, before it’s time to say goodbye.
