My colleague Sheree Adams wrote a cool article last week on ‘Sweet and Sexy Apps for Couples.’ I can’t tell you about any sweet and sexy travel apps (there aren’t any) LOL, but I can bring 5 cool apps to download before you leave for summer vacation.
Have you ever driven around an airport trying to avoid the airport cops, waiting for your sweethearts’ plane to land? Well, there’s an app for that and it’s called ‘Just Landed.’ This app lets you search for the needed flight by number, once you find it, tap on it and the app starts tracking the flight. It gives you the estimated arrival time, terminal, gate and baggage claim information. ‘Trip It’ is one of the most popular/downloaded travel apps. The app takes all of your travel itineraries (forwarded to plans@tripit.com) and creates one detailed itinerary. ‘Trip It’ then syncs that itinerary with your online calendar and www.tripit.com. You can share your itinerary with friends and family on Facebook and linkedin if you want. There are three versions of the app, a free version, a version with no ads for $4.99 and a business version.

Are you going to visit any of the fabulous Disney theme parks this summer? If you are, then you definitely need to download the ‘Disney Mobile Magic App.’ This app is designed to give you access to everything Disney. You can use GPS maps to find your favorite rides in the park and characters for special meet and greets. The app also lets you check ride/attraction wait times and set important reminders for Disney FASTPASS return times. Also use it make lunch/dinner reservations at your favorite Disney restaurant/eatery. ‘Disney Mobile Magic App’ is totally free and available at the iTunes store and Google Play.

Our next pick is a fun game and it’s brand spanking new. If you watch the ‘Ellen Show’ then you play along with her ‘Heads Up’ game often. Using your iPad or iPhone you hold it above your head and whatever the word/phrase is, you have to guess it based on the clues given by your friends before the timer runs out. It’s a cool, fun game and now’s it’s an app that you can download for 99cent! Visit the iTunes store to download.

Our last app is a cool and fun way to share vacation memories. Don’t waste time shopping for postcards, create your very own with ‘Postcard on the Run.’ Just snap a picture with your phone, customize the postcard and mail it directly from your cell phone. It’s seamless…just snap, tap and send (pay for postage thru your paypal account or with a credit card). It’s totally free and available on iTunes and the Android Market.
