A reasonable alternative to the iPad2 is the HP Touchpad. Rumor has it that HP is going to do another fire sale of the 16GB (for $99) and 32GB ($150) touchpads. The touchpads are also great for travel and the Facebook app is better than going to the actual site (at least I think so). They are only available in wifi versions, which is great, but if you can’t access a wifi hotspot you can’t surf the web, play Angry Birds, download a movie or listen to “˜I Heart Radio.’ If the HP fire sale doesn’t happen, there are a few still floating around on the Internet. Whichever tablet computer you decide to buy, it will be a valuable travel gift for the entire family.
