Travel Tuesday: Chart A Course For Magic Aboard The Disney Dream

Last week, Mickey Mouse and crew set sail for magical destinations aboard the newest member of the Disney cruise ship family, The Disney Dream. The Dream took its maiden voyage Wednesday, January 26, from Port Canaveral, Florida, to the beautiful islands of the Bahamas.

Two years in the making, the Dream is the first of two new cruise ships being added to the Disney Cruise ship family.  The Dreams’ sister ship, the Disney Fantasy sets sail in January of 2012.  Both ships feature fantastic cruise ship innovations such as the Aqua Duck,  the first ever water coaster on a cruise ship.

The Disney Dream is full of cruise industry innovations.   The Dream has 1,250 luxury staterooms throughout its 14 decks along with 3 pools (one expressly for kids, families and adults). It is also home to the unique and stunning “Skyline Lounge.”   The lounge features HD views of (changing) city skylines creating a stunning yet romantic backdrop.

Kids of all ages can get lost on this dazzling cruise ship in one of their own (parent approved of course) unique pools or in their own nightclub/lounge called Vibe.   Kids can also play in a replica of Monster’s Academy from the Disney motion picture Monsters, Inc.

Once the family has eaten itself silly in one of the ships upscale restaurants, spend the afternoon on Aqua Duck, or just relax on the upper deck soaking up the sun you can retire to your stateroom and watch the stars through your virtual magical porthole (another industry first).

The mission of Disney Cruise Lines is to take families on dream vacations to destinations they’ve only dreamed of.  Test the waters in the Disney Dream on a 3-4 night Bahamian cruise designed for beginning cruisers.  For the more experience family cruisers, you can reserve a 7 night cruise to Spain, Corsica, Italy, Malta or France.   Whatever you family wants to experience on a cruise ship, the Disney Dream already has a planned activity for it, all in true Disney magic fashion.

Seven-night cruises start from $857/per person*. For more information and your free Disney Cruise Planning DVD, please visit www.disneycruise.com or call 1-800-951-3532.
