Travel Tuesday: Money Saving Tips on Spring Break Vacations!

For a lucky few, spring break has already started and for others they still have a month or so to plan a fabulous family spring break vacation. So, if you haven’t started planning we are here to help with a few tips to help you save money on your spring break vacation.

1. Our first tip…fly/travel on off days and off times. Monday–Thursday mornings have the lowest flying traffic which means cheaper tickets. Flights and airports are also less crowded and flights during this time are 15% more on time.

2. Book in advance…My nephew Justin’s private school gives out the school schedule on the first day of school, if your children’s schools does the same thing you’re armed and dangerous. LOL. If you can plan spring break vacation six months in advance you can save up to 60%!

3. Comparison shop online. It is crucial to get the most bang for your vacation buck. There are several popular websites that offer fabulous deals (with airfare) on vacations. For deals on Caribbean getaways, visit www.cheapcaribbean.com or www.vacationsToGo.com. For great discounted family getaways visit www.familygetaway.com.

4. Consider renting a vacation home vs. a hotel room. Vacation homes/condos have much more square footage so there’s more room to relax. They come with up-to-date kitchens which will help the family save on restaurant tabs. Some even allow pets so the family pet can enjoy spring break also. By renting a vacation home instead of hotel rooms, you can save 20%-30%. To check out a few of the fabulous available vacation homes, visit www.homeaway.com or www.hotelsvshomes.com.
