Last month, Las Vegas couple Evonne and Deon Derrico delivered quintuplets to add to their household of four children. On Monday, they made an appearance with two of the newest additions on ABC’s The View to give an update on how they are doing since the birth.
With Dariz and Deonee cuddled with mom–who hardly looks like she’s recently had five children– and dad on the couch, one of the remaining three joined in via satellite from home with Deon’s mother and their four older children, Derrick, Dallas, Denver and Darian while the other two remain in the hospital in good health. The View cast took a moment to talk to grandma and asked how she was doing babysitting six children?
“Barely. But I kind of feel like the nursery rhyme ‘little old lady that lived in a shoe had so many kids she didn’t know what to do,'” she said. “Well, I’m not like that little old lady and I don’t live in a shoe, but I do know what to do and it is overwhelming; trust me.”
Deon works as a field property manager and had saved up for one baby, but never imagined they would have five. He added that while they have his mom and a few friends that help out, their biggest support would have been in their hometown of Detroit, MI. He and Evonne jokingly called upon the audience to help them out with babysitting.
“We had originally said we wanted a large family, but I’m on strike,” Deon said when Sherri Shepherd asked if they planned to have more children.
The couple left with a year’s supply of diapers donated to them by Pampers.
