Michael and Vanessa Jackson’s love story has all of us wanting to fall in love. After meeting at a Texas conference in 2006, the two struck up a friendship that has become the journey of a lifetime. They share their story with us.
The Beginning
“I always admired Vanessa’s love for Christ,” says Michael. But that wasn’t all. He also loved “her love for her family, her witty intelligence, her confidence, and exquisite style.”
For Vanessa, it was simple. She sums up their relationship this way: “We met. We laughed. We started a friendship that has paved a path for our love to last.”
The Proposal
In 2014, Michael introduced Vanessa to his parents. “I have to be honest, I was super nervous about meeting his parents for the first time,” Vanessa recalls. “We went to dinner and almost instantly my nervousness subsided. Michael’s parents were down to earth, funny, and welcoming, it was clear that the apple had not fallen far from the tree.
That Sunday was her birthday and Michael took her out to breakfast, then to church, and later to dinner. She invited her aunt, who was under the weather, to join them for dinner, and her brother and sister-in-law came along as well.
“After dinner Michael began to reminisce on our relationship and he played a song for me, ‘Beautiful’ by Fred Hammond,” Vanessa shares.
“After making heartfelt remarks, Michael got on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was sooooooooo shocked that it was basically surreal to me. I said YES to what turned out to be the best birthday present ever.”
The two lovebirds, who were married on August 15th, are sharing their amazing day with the BMWK family.
