VIDEO: David Banner’s “Marry Me” Is the Song that Black Love Needs Right Now

David Banner featuring Rudy Currence Marry Me Video Lyrics

The first time I heard David Banner’s new hit single, “Marry Me,” featuring singer Rudy Currence, unexpectedly, I teared up. I have lived my forty plus years beneath this dark chocolate coating, proudly embracing it and daring others to do the same.

But the thing with experience is you get to… experience.  And, unfortunately, despite my self love, I have experienced the inexplicable sadness that accompanies the disrespect saucily delivered through song, movies, and sometimes face to face, from our men.

Adding insult to injury, the issue has been treated as either non-existent, or no big deal.  So, we have had to do battle not only with “the man,” but with our men.  David Banner aims to change all of that.

“I made ‘Marry Me’ for women, because in order for us to go to war with whoever, we gotta make amends with our women, and our daughters,” Banner said in a recent interview with ‘Sway in the Morning’.  “We gotta get this back with our families.” Check out the song with lyrics below.

Hopefully, Banner’s acknowledgement of a wrong against our women of color, and his beautifully delivered attempt to correct it, will serve to uplift our community. The time for sweeping the nasty truth under the rug about the treatment of women of color is gone. It starts with our men and David Banner is leading the way.

“I wanted the women, especially dark-skinned women, to know that somebody out here cares,” Banner adds.
