VIDEO: Shooting of Handcuffed 21 Year-Old in Police Car Defies Logic

On the night of July 28, 21-year-old, Chavis Carter and his friends were pulled over by police while riding in a pickup truck in Jonesboro, Arkansas. While his friends were free to leave, Carter was arrested for allegedly having small marijuana baggies on his person and outstanding warrants for his arrest. The police officers on the scene, Keith Baggett and Ron Marsh, then placed handcuffs on Carter and placed him in the back of their squad car. A few minutes later the two officers allegedly found Carter in the back of the police car with a gunshot wound to the head. Carter’s hands were still handcuffed behind his back.

The two police officers allege that Carter shot himself with a gun he had on his person. Marsh claims he missed the gun when searching Carter. Carter’s mother, Tersea does not believe the officers’ story. “I think they killed him, my son wasn’t suicidal,” she told WREG

Tersea is not the only person who thinks their story is bizarre. The police chief in the case admitted the shooting “defies logic at first glance.” However, he affirms that he will be standing by his officers’ story.Witnesses on the scene seem to support the officers’ story. Nonetheless, the FBI is in the process of reviewing the case.
