(Video) Whitney Houston’s Biopic Lifetime Trailer Released

Many can agree that Whitney Houston may be the greatest singer of her generation, an artist we lost too soon. A real fan has followed her journey as a singer, a wife & a mother. And now her life has come to the small screen.

Whitney is Angela Bassett’s, American Horror Story and What’s Love Got to Do With It, directorial debut, which airs on the Lifetime Network on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. Whitney  stars Yaya DaCosta, America’s Next Top Model veteran and Lee Daniels’ The Butler with new comer Arlen Escarpeta as Bobby Brown.

The trailer shows a good mixture of the good times, bad times and all the music we love Houston for. Although, that’s not Whitney’s voice you hear. Grammy nominee Deborah Cox lends her voice for the Whitney movie.

The movie gives us an up close look into her marriage with Bobby Brown, her relationship with her mother and even the drug abuse. Ironically, Cissy Houston wanted nothing to do with this movie and reportedly said, “Lifetime has chosen to go ahead with the movie about Whitney in spite of my family’s objections,” she told Entertainment Tonight at the time. “No one connected with this movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby, please, please let her rest.”

I think after the Aaliyah debacle, we are all on the edge of our seats. However, because it’s Whitney, we might be willing to give Lifetime one more chance.

BMWK, will you be watching the Whitney movie on Lifetime?
